Review Quiz

Today in class we had to check our quizzes. I was pretty disappointed about my grade because I was hoping for something higher than a 90 yet I got an 80 instead. The questions I got wrong were the things I only studied a little bit and some of them were just stupid mistakes. Like the one I got wrong was the New Testament and the Gospels one because I put Judaism instead of  Christianity like an idiot. But there were only three people that got it right so I can feel a little better about myself. Also, the question where it talked about the oldest religion. of the five and I put judaism because I thought they were. But it turns out it was Hinduism was the oldest out of the five and Judaism is the second oldest out of the five. Also, the last blog I talked about the nirvana question I actually got right which was Buddhism although I thought it was something else.

Quiz Day

Today we had to take a test on the 5 religions of the world. I thought I did pretty well because I studied ab unchecking last night and today so I could remember the key facts. Although I thought I missed one or two because I had not studied those facts like. Like one of them was nirvana thing and I just guessed Buddhism because I had know I idea what to put. Also going through it at. the beginning of class helped me a lot cause I could remember stuff right before the test and not forget them. Finally, I want to get a good grade on this because last quarter I didn't do so well so I want to get an A instead of a low B.

More religion

Today we reviewed the last major religions in the world. They are Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism. We learned many facts about these different religions like the amount of people that follow Hinduism is  1.1 billion (third largest) and they call them Hindus. Also they have no distinct founder, it is a series of intellectual or philosophical points of view, rather than a rigid, strict set of beliefs. Also the amount of adherents that Buddhism has 500 mill. to 1.5 billion and their geographic location is southeast Asia, China, Nepal, Japan. I learned that they have four different denominations which are Tibetan, Zen,Theravada, Amidst. In Buddhism there are four noble truths that lead to the EightFold path which are Right view, Right intention, Right speech, Right action, Right livelihood, Right effort, Right mindfulness, Right dedication. Finally learned that judaism has 14 - 18 million (ninth) adherents in the world and their holy book is The Torah which is the first five books of the Old

Religion

Today we studied the five most common religions in the world. But today all we did was two religions with three left to review. We learned about Christianity and Islamic religions which are pronounced as Christians and Muslims. Christianity has about 2.2 billion adherents that believe in Christianity. The Muslim faith has about  1.5 billion  adherents which is the. second largest with Christianity in first.  We also learned that there are over 100 different christian denominations like Lutheran or Catholic or even baptist. But Islamic faith only has two of them which is  Sunnis and Shiites. Finally, we learned that the Christianity holy book is the Bible and the Islamic holy book is Qur’an (Koran)

Test day

Today we took a test on the population pyramids and what have learned throughout this whole unit. I thought I did pretty well it's just I might get things wrong when it comes to the population pyramids and remembering the countries and their own pyramids. Like Japan and Russia and countries like that. But I remembered everything else cause we already took a test on pretty much the same thing like two weeks ago and I got a 90/100. One of the questions on the last test I know I got right on this test which was Monaco had the highest life expectancy than what I put which was the Unites States. Finally, we didn't have to write any of it so it made it a lot easier because if I didn't know the answer I could just guess cause its multiple choice.

population pyramid

Today we reviewed and watched the video on the population pyramids. /They are  graphical illustration that shows the distribution of various age groups in a population, which forms the shape of a pyramid when the population is growing. We watched about the different countries like Nigeria and Russia where the population in Nigeria are growing very quickly cause they are having kids  a lot. Also, Russia is decreasing in depression because they are still recovering ww2 and the amount of people that went to war and died in war. Also, the pre-reproductive stages start at 0-14 and then reproductive would 15-45 then post reproductive is 45-100+. Finally, we talked about the different population in different countries like Japan are still growing but growing slowly just like the  United States.

Review Testing

Today we reviewed the test today because our test on Monday. It's going to be on the stuff we have learned about for the past few weeks. Like we're talking about the total fertility rate which is  average number of children born per woman . For the population to be rising the number for that rate has to be over 2.1. We also talked about the c rude birth rate is number of births per 1000 of the population which is the opposite of crude death rate. We also learned that the rate of the natural increase is produced by subtracting the death rate from the birth rate and this gives us the annual natural g rowth rate in percentage form for  country or region. Also, emigration, where people are leaving the country and immigration, where the people are coming into the country. Finally, we talked about the push forces and the pull forces of different countries.

Thoughts on presentation

I thought I did pretty decent even though I know I didn't get two minutes. To me I thought I deserved a high B just because I didn't get to the two minutes and I should have been better explaining my slide more than I guess more than I did. Like I should have explained the picture I put on the slide talking about the amount of electricity that the population actually has like the rural population. and the whole population with electricity. I tried to explain all the problems they had like the natural gas and crude oil and also mostly the electricity so that the audience could understand the problem that I addressed about the country we had which was Congo.

Slide presentation 2

So we had to do our slide presentation on Congo. I thought I did pretty decent even though I know I didn't get two minutes.  But I explained my slide pretty well I thought which was energy slide which talked about natural gas, crude oil, and electricity. I now know that there are only 9% of the  population that actually has access to electricity so they actually have access to hot showers, refrigerators, and cooking food on a stove and not with an actual fire. Also, t hey have a crude oil production rate of 17,000 bbl/day yet they have a crude oil import rate of 0 bbl/day which means they make a lot but don't get any from other countries. I also had to talk about how Congo doesn't have any natural gas which means they don't make it or consume it. They don't even get it from other countries either and they don't give it others. Finally, I learned from one of my group members that they had a GDP per capita of $800 which is seriously really low.

Slide presentation

On Friday we had to make a slide presentation based on our country. Yet these weren't any simple countries it was developing countries which means they don't really have the best lifestyle. So the country we got was Congo which is also known as Democratic republic of the Congo, it is a very struggling country when it comes to food, electricity, and money. Like the population without electricity is 69 million of 2017. and only 17.1 which means 17.1 of the population has it. I also know now is that their population is 85,281,02 from one of our slides. They have a crude oil production rate of 17,000 bbl/day yet they have a crude oil import rate of 0 bbl/day which means they make a lot but don't get any from other countries. Finally, I also learned from one of the slide is t he most practiced religions are Roman Catholic (29.9%) and Protestant (26.7%)

Pop quiz review questions

Today we talked about the questions that might be on the pop quiz later this week. Also the questions were on the the exam from two years ago.We talked about the population of the United States and we also talked about the population for the world. The questions we reviewed like the crude death and birth rate of the different countries. We also talked about the different life expectancy rates of different countries like Monaco and the united states. W e talked about that each one of the years like 1999 and 2011 was a year that the population grew to another billion people. I know that the crude death and birth rate I know is natural increase. Finally, 90% of this population growth takes place in the developing countries of Africa, South and East Asia, and Latin America.

CIA World Fact-book question review

Yesterday we did an assignment where we had to write interesting facts about 5 countries and talking about them. I talked about different countries like Chad, South Sudan, United States and even the world. I talked about different things like death rate and birth rate from South Sudan compared to the birth rate in the United Sates. I also talked about Chads population of people who don't have electricity and it was a lot of people as in 14 million people don't have electricity. I also had to write these facts and tell about how they involved what we're learning in class and a lot of it had to do with the change in population the bad way and good way such as birth rate and death rate. Finally, we had to predict the different pyramids for the different countries on how they would decrease, or rise slowly or rapidly.

CIA World Fact-book questions

Chads population without electricity is 14 million-  This is interesting because that is a lot of people compared to our country and many other counties. This is important to what we're learning because without electricity it can cause people to be in the dark for most of their life and it can cause a very bad living place to be. It can also cause many people to emigrate out of the country which causes a less populated area. South Sudan has a death rate of 19.30 - This death rate is the number one ranked in the world which is interesting because one the death rate of them is 4.20 more than the second ranked country which is Lesotho. Also the death rate is so high because they are second in the world of maternal death rate which means most of the deaths are just dying at birth. Finally, it relates to the work we're doing in class because deaths can cause the population to drop by a lot and we have been reviewing a lot about what changes population of different countries. Lif
